In their sixth collaboration, French eyewear house MOREL and celebrated architect Jean Nouvel return with a new edition of minimalist sunglasses. The partnership continues to blur the lines between industrial design and wearable object. These latest frames build upon a foundation of thoughtful reduction, emphasizing what is essential while removing the unnecessary.

Circular Geometry: A Signature Expression

At the heart of the 2025 release is a recurring theme throughout Nouvel’s work: the circle. Far from a passing aesthetic choice, the circle reflects Nouvel’s architectural language—appearing in landmark projects such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Institut du Monde Arabe. In this collection, the circle defines the lens shape, delivering a clean, unified design that reads as both classic and contemporary.

Two Materials, One Vision

The two sunglasses in the collection are identical in form, differing only in material. One is crafted in lightweight titanium, offering a lightweight profile and a modern industrial feel. The other is cut from acetate, providing a fuller silhouette with tactile warmth. Both are produced in a curated range of monochrome colorways, with black at the center—an intentional nod to Nouvel’s preference for neutrality and contrast.

Minimalist Construction

Though the frames are visually minimal, their construction is exacting. Both frames boast refined architectural lines and slim arms that reinforce the frame’s structure without excess. Each features a pronounced straight nose bridge that extends just beyond the face—adding a bold, architectural edge without disrupting the balance.

Design for Everyday Wear

Intended to be unisex the sunglasses are accessible without sacrificing their conceptual roots. These are frames designed not to dominate a face, but to complement it—quietly reflecting the wearer’s appreciation for thoughtful, functional design.
