Jacques Marie Mage continues its exploration of cultural icons through the reintroduction of the Kyosho Collection—a special series of frames dedicated to Japanese masters of art, architecture, and philosophy. The latest release in this series is the Kurokawa, a limited-edition frame named for architect Kisho Kurokawa (1937–2007), a central figure in Japan’s Metabolist movement. He is known for viewing architecture as a living, evolving organism instead of a fixed monument.
Honoring the Vision of Kisho Kurokawa
The Kurokawa frame captures the essence of structural movement and organic form. Drawing on a 1960s-inspired aviator silhouette, the frame is crafted from plant-based acetate and accented with a dramatic shield lens and columnar bridge—evoking architectural motifs with a sculptural twist. Each frame is embellished with polished 18k Gold or Silver metal components, engraved Art Deco flourishes and expressive temple inlays, featuring polished arrow motifs set in hand-painted epoxy.

The Kyosho Series: A Tribute to Cultural Masters
The Kyosho Collection is JMM’s ongoing tribute to Japanese visionaries who shaped art and culture through their disciplines. Each frame in the series is designed not simply to mimic the aesthetic of its namesake, but to reflect their core principles. In the case of Kurokawa, this means an eyewear silhouette that feels like architecture in motion—stable, complex, and full of quiet intention.
