Vinylize Eyewear, long known for its iconic use of upcycled vinyl records in frame design, has taken a bold new leap in sustainability with the launch of the CYKLO collection. This new line introduces not only a fresh design direction but also a new material source—discarded bicycle brake cables. By turning one of the most wasted parts in cycling into functioning eyewear temples, Vinylize deepens its commitment to upcycling while pushing the boundaries of both fashion and industrial design.
The Meaning of The Frames
The CYKLO collection currently includes three frame models: Mercury, Deacon, and May. Each name is a nod to Queen’s 1978 anthem “Bicycle Race,” adding a lyrical layer to the collection’s story. While the frame fronts are made using Vinylize’s signature recycled vinyl records, the temples are crafted from actual bicycle brake cables collected from local bike shops. The result is a product that doesn’t just stand out visually—it stands for something meaningful.
Three Models, One Ride
Mercury
Deacon
May
Though distinct in shape, all three styles are unified by their material story—vinyl in the front, brake cable in the back.
Each frame comes with a custom storage box, hard case and cleaning cloth, designed specifically for the CYKLO collection.
Upcycling as a Design Language
The CYKLO collection is a continuation of Vinylize’s larger mission: proving that waste can be beautiful. Just as the brand has turned vinyl records into eyeglass frames, lamp shades, mirrors, and even furniture, CYKLO finds beauty in something functional and often forgotten.
