For its 120th anniversary, Masunaga has launched a new limited-edition collection, Edition 120, introducing five commemorative frames—two of which have now been revealed.

Edition 120: Radio City & Lex

Radio City

Radio City is a refined, round model crafted primarily from titanium, with temples accented in titanium and 18K gold. The seamless fusion of these high-quality metals reflects Masunaga’s dedication to subtle elegance and precision. This round silhouette offers both sleek style and structural clarity.

Lex

Lex follows a similar design ethos in a square format. Also made with a titanium front and titanium plus 18K gold temples, this model is engraved with a discrete “Edition 120” marking—an understated nod to its place in Masunaga’s legacy.

Both models exemplify the brand’s belief that careful attention in every detail naturally shapes outstanding eyewear.

Rooted in Masunaga Tradition

Masunaga’s craftsmanship remains as intentional and hands-on as ever. The company oversees every step of production—from raw materials to final polish—brought together by highly trained artisans under one roof in Fukui. This vertically integrated system allows for immediate refinement during development, and ensures consistently refined execution across the more than 200 manual steps each frame undergoes.

Each prototype starts in-house: once artisans perfect the fit and feel, the design moves into full production. By keeping mold-making, shaping, polishing, soldering, and finishing all internal, Masunaga maintains rigorous quality control and timeless elegance.

Looking Ahead

While Radio City and Lex are the first unveiled models in this milestone collection, three more frames are yet to be revealed. Each promises to continue the legacy of thoughtful design and craft that defines Edition 120.

About Masunaga

Founded in 1905, Masunaga pioneered eyewear manufacturing in Fukui Prefecture, setting the standard for Japanese optical craftsmanship. The company’s mission statement since its establishment is: “We manufacture excellent eyeglasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don’t hesitate to take a loss. It is always in our thoughts to manufacture excellent eyeglasses.” These words are still the basis of the conduct code of employees even more than 100 years after its establishment. Masunaga has become one of the world’s few eyewear brands to retain full in-house production—from design and mold-making to final polish—ensuring exceptional precision, artistry, and timeless elegance in every pair.
